Wow . . . What an idiot
Now, I've been told that I over simplify and cut things into black and white that really are more complex than that. I can't help it, it's how I operate. To me, there is a YES or NO solution to everything, with the little semantics either sacrificed or simply accepted. This attitude means that occasionally I make a pretty bold statement about something or someone that not everyone agrees with, and it's written off as "One of Zuke's rants." However, this is different.
Upon going across different blogs, I've come across one called GwenBlog that both Tine and I enjoy reading. It follows Gwen, who is a Chinese baby who was adopted by an American couple in North Carolina. In today's post, the mother posted a link to an article that made her blood boil. Ever the snoop, I followed it and read along. Yeah, the mom had a good reason to be furious;
Moron finds a soapbox!
This family "expert" compares the adoption of a child into a family the equivalent to a pair of lesbians adopting kids. Oh, and people who make use of artificial insemination, they are the same too, evidentially. She goes on to say that the Bible tells us that adoption is ok, so long as the birth mother stays around to provide the actual "mothering" to her child. Of course, the Bible didn't take crack whores or parents who may be DEAD into account.
I know people who have adopted, I know people who have BEEN adopted, and I know people that, without a helping hand from modern science, may not have had the blessing of a child. I also know of a family who does keep the biological mother in the picture, and they are beyond screwed up. In my book, it doesn't matter so much HOW you were brought to your family, so long as you DO find your family.
A child needs to be raised by people who love it. Whether that is a mother & father combo, single parent, grandparent, adopted parent (gasp), or even (so be it) a homosexual parent.
So here's my black or white, yes or no logic on this subject; if a child is without parents (or even, parents who even want to love them) is it going to be better for the child to never be loved and cared for, or to be raised by surrogates? Is it better for a child to never belong to a caring family than to be a part of a family who does not share the same genetic code? Is this even a valid question?
There is no way in this world or the next that Tine and I would even think of leaving Kaiden by himself if something were to happen to us. Even if Ms. Expert say our child is living in sin by not living with his biological parents, I'd rather him be in a loving home.
To be fair (really, I try), the woman is just as stupid in every one of her articles on that site. While I cannot claim to know her personally (and probably wouldn't even if I did), she would appear to be the kind of woman who thinks she knows best, simply because she had kids. She went to graduate school for counseling, but decided that she knew better than anyone else after she successfully got knocked up and then proceeded to pass something out of her uterus. Perhaps someone should tell her she is not the first to do so. In fact, why don't we ALL tell her.
